The West Texas Country Music Hayride is coming to perform at the Plainveiw Fair Theater on June 18th, 2011 at 7:00pm The Hayride team is also working in conjunction with the Rainbow Room, an organization that buys clothes, shoes, and necessities for abused and neglected children, and follows them all the way through the system. The West Texas Country Music Hayride features country music recording artist, Daron Norwood and Anchor Brother’s singer songwriter, Reydon Stanford.
Daron Norwood has had several major hits on radio and music charts and has worked with some of the biggest names in Country Music; Jim Ed Brown, Travis Tritt, Alabama, Kenny Chesney, Mark Chesnut, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Merle Haggard, George Jones and others. He has performed on the Grand Ole Opry as well as touring most of the United States. In 2004, Daron Norwood was nominated for 5 awards, and was honored with the Song of the Year by the Inspirational Country Music Association with the song, “In God We Trust.” Daron is now in the process of picking and writing his songs for the Texas Country Debut album; single to be released this fall.
Reydon Stanford, at 17, co-founded in 1979 “The Anchor Brothers Band,” and began recording and touring the Southwestern United States. The Anchor Brothers Band was the opening act for well known Gospel bands like the Kingsmen, and Gold City Quartet; performing also on Lubbock’s show – West Texas Saturday Night Opry. After fifteen years touring, Reydon Stanford became the Senior Pastor of Trinity Christian Center Church in Muleshoe, continuing to lead worship weekly and pastoral counseling, as well as publishing articles.
To add a Plainview touch to the Hayride, Daron Norwood’s discovery, 14 year old violinist, Trey Topper will be a guest artist. Daron was playing in a show when a friend told him his cousin was in the audience, and could REALLY play a violin. He called him up to play one song. It was known right then why Trey and Daron met. Daron had mentors as a young man who knew the business, so it was on his heart to do all he could to support Trey as an artist with his incredible talent. This became a way Daron could give back. In two years, Trey has developed as a quick learner showing great improvement and skills as a “fiddle player.” And as Daron has expressed to his parents, Keith and Teresa Topper of Plainview, this 14 year old is not limited to where his talent can take him.
Guest artist, Cathleen Tyson of Amarillo will also perform. Cathleen toured at a young age in TX, LA and CO. Recorded in Lubbock, and featured in a music video which was aired on the CBS affiliate.
